Hey there, fellow adventurers in fatherhood and beyond! Today, I’m embarking on a creative journey that promises to shake up my routine and feed my mind with new and interesting experiences.
I’ve enrolled in Dave Birss’ Creative Bootcamp, a free 5-day course designed to ignite creativity and encourage fresh perspectives. For the next five days, I’ll be documenting my tasks and experiences right here on the blog, turning it into my very own creative diary. So, buckle up and join me as we dive into the unknown!
Today’s task
Simple yet intriguing…have a drink I wouldn’t normally choose.
Enter Caramel Nut Chicory. Now, for a guy like me who’s practically welded to his morning cup of coffee and who is quite the coffee snob (to say the least!), this was quite the departure. I prepared the chicory in my trusty French press, sweetened it with three Splenda, and braced myself for the first sip.
First impressions?
Nutty. That’s the word that came to mind as I took my first taste. Unlike my usual coffee, the chicory lacked the robust aroma that fills the kitchen each morning. It was noticeably less acidic, which might appeal to some, but I found myself missing that familiar coffee kick. Instead, the chicory had a distinctive aftertaste that lingered longer than I expected, a bit like a guest who overstays their welcome.
One thing was clear: this chicory wasn’t about to replace my beloved coffee. The temperature was on point, similar to a fresh cup of joe, but the experience was different enough to keep me on my toes.
Interestingly, my stomach didn’t take too kindly to the chicory on an empty stomach. I made a mental note to try it again with breakfast next time – if there’s a next time.
While Caramel Nut Chicory might not become my go-to beverage, this exercise was more than just a taste test. It was a reminder to step out of my comfort zone and try something new, even if it’s just a different drink. It’s these small changes that can spark new ideas and keep our minds engaged and curious.
So, what’s next on the Creative Bootcamp agenda?
Only time will tell, but I’m looking forward to each new challenge and sharing the journey with all of you. Until then, keep your mugs full and your minds open!
I hope you enjoyed this little adventure as much as I did. Stay tuned for more updates from Dave Birss’ Creative Bootcamp, and remember, sometimes the smallest changes can lead to the biggest breakthroughs. Cheers to new experiences!
